We speak with Phil Beal, Superintendent of the Australian Golf Club, as he deals with the turf management issues of preparing a course for the Emirates Australian Open 2019. The Emirates Australian Open is 70 days away and the club is busy putting together preparations for the big event. The fairways are being top dressed with calcium magnesium products to replenish nutrients lost through leaching.

Despite some challenges, such as heavy rain, the greens have recovered well since their renovation three weeks ago. This is the first video in the series of 5 that details the preparation, planning and pitfalls of hosting a major golf tournament. Watch the video to find out more.

(Update: Phil retired from the Australian Golf Club in Oct 2021.)
