In 2014, we ran The Back 9 Challenge as a large-scale demonstration program. Sorrento Golf Club was one of five golf clubs that participated.
Sorrento Golf Club is an 18-hole hilly course established in 1907. Tees and fairways are couch grass with relatively new Bentgrass greens. Located on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne the weather ranges from hot summers to relatively cold winters. Like many courses in southern parts of Australia wintergrass is one of the key management issues on all turf surfaces. Course Superintendent Shane Greenhill shares his course issues with us.
