ASTMA, Envu & John Deere working together to evolve the Women in Turf Mentorship Program launching in 2025.
John Deere, Envu and the ASTMA are thrilled to announce their collaboration on the 2025 Women in Turf initiative, a new program that combines a work placement opportunity at the Webex Cobram Barooga Players Series event and a year-long mentoring and development program designed to empower and support women aspiring to make their mark in the sports turf industry. The collaboration aims to enhance the program established by the ASTMA in 2022 as part of their Women in Sports Turf Management Strategy.
John Deere’s Women in Turf program has given female greenkeepers the opportunity to volunteer at two PGA tournaments at Cobram Barooga Golf Club, plus a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help prepare the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium for several international football matches including the Matildas’ group game against Canada. The Women in Turf Mentorship initiative alongside Envu and the ASTMA aims to take the experience to the next level in 2025.
The program is tailored for women at various stages of their careers, offering them the opportunity to connect with experienced industry leaders, gain valuable insights, and build the confidence needed to thrive in the Turf Industry.
“Reflecting on the progress made since we introduced the Women in Turf Strategy two years ago, we are absolutely delighted to collaborate with John Deere and Envu to evolve and improve the mentorship program. This alignment underscores the commitment from all three organizations to create positive change within turf management by enhancing female participation, support their continued development and help strengthen the participation of women in turf management,” said Mark Unwin, CEO of the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association.
Through the program, mentees will be provided with a range of experiences, receiving guidance on career development and the leadership skills required to navigate industry challenges, to practical on the job expertise gained in volunteer work at the Webex Cobram Barooga Tournament.
