Craig, was one of five nominees for the award and we congratulate the other four state nominees.

New South Wales: Brent Hull, Moruya Golf Club
Queensland: Kelvin Nicholson, Palmer Coolum Resort
Western Australia: Des Russell, Cottesloe Golf Club
South Australia: Mark Angel, Kingston SE Golf Club

As one of the club’s key stakeholders noted in the award nomination, “Craig is a dedicated tradesman who puts his heart and soul into what he does and produces some of the best turf surfaces in the state week in, week out.”

Craig has only been at Devonport Country Club for four years but during that time has played a key role in the club’s metamorphosis into one of the premium golf and sporting facilities in Tasmania. Six years ago Devonport made the bold move to merge with a number of nearby sporting clubs, bringing Craig on board to oversee turf management operations across all areas.

Craig was made responsible for the development of the golf course master plan in conjunction with course architect Graham Grant, the growing-in of three bowling greens and the construction of two croquet lawns, as well as a raft of other redevelopment works. In addition to that, Craig and his team also recently expanded their role to include the maintenance operations at two other nearby golf courses – Ulverstone and Port Sorrell.
