Envu's Success At The Pest Animal And Weed Symposium 2023
At Envu, our commitment to innovation and sustainability extends beyond our products and into the very heart of our business operations. Recently, our Vegetation Management and Rural Team had the privilege of participating in the Pest Animal and Weed Symposium 2023 (PAWS 2023), a groundbreaking event that brought together experts, researchers, and enthusiasts in the field of vegetation and rural management.
Hosted by the Western Downs Regional Council and presented by Invasive Species Queensland, this symposium, held from August 28th to 31st at the Dalby Event Centre, proved to be a unique opportunity for us to engage with like-minded professionals, learn about the latest developments in the field, and showcase our contributions.
Pests, Partnerships, and People Power: The PAWS 2023 Theme
Under the overarching theme of "Pests, Partnerships, and People Power," PAWS 2023 sought to address the pressing issues surrounding pest management. As we know, managing invasive species and weeds is not just about applying the latest herbicides or pesticides. It is about collaboration and harnessing the collective power of individuals and organizations dedicated to preserving our natural ecosystems. With this theme in mind, senior development specialist Jyri Kaapro had a speaking spot where he shared his experience controlling some of the worst weeds in QLD using Method® 240SL Herbicide.
Gaining Insights and Forging Connections
The symposium provided an enriching experience for our team to present, network and learn from other industry professionals. From discussions about biosecurity to insights from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF), as well as interactions with PhD researchers and Natural Resource Management (NRM) experts, the knowledge shared at PAWS 2023 was truly enlightening.
Our team also had the privilege of engaging in numerous conversations with a diverse range of delegates and attendees. These interactions allowed us to exchange ideas and gather valuable feedback from the very individuals who are at the forefront of the battle against invasive species and weeds. One encounter in particular stood out to Ed Bracey, our Rural Business Specialist & Technical Support. He recounted a conversation he had with a dedicated spray contractor who left his home at 2:00 am just to meet with our team to learn more about Method 240SL Herbicide. His aim was to seek solutions for controlling Swamp Box on his property, after hearing about the success others were having with the new Herbicide. This dedication reflects the shared commitment of individuals in the field to find effective, sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.
Recognizing Excellence: The DCQ Team's Award
The symposium also recognized the outstanding efforts of various teams and organizations dedicated to pest management. Among them, the Desert Channels Queensland (DCQ) team received well-deserved recognition for their ongoing work in Central Queensland, specifically in controlling Prickly Acacia where Method 240SL formed part of the control program and stands as one of the early success stories of the product within Australia through trials.
PAWS 2023 provided valuable insight and learning around some of the biggest challenges landowners and asset managers face in the control of broadleaf and woody weeds in some of Australia’s harshest environments. The Envu team are excited to continue to build relationships within this space and demonstrate the opportunity Method240SL brings in support of the plight to combat invasive species and protect our environment. Till we meet again in PAWS 2024!
