Question from the field:
How should insecticides like Temprid® 75 be applied for maximum effect against bed bugs?

Response from our Expert:

Controlling the Site

Start by controlling the site. It’s our responsibility to control the treatment site during application and immediately afterwards, until re-entry is deemed safe. Anyone in the area during application or entering afterwards must wear appropriate PPE as per the label instructions.

Getting the best out of Temprid® 75 on Bed Bugs

This new chemistry has outstanding knockdown of bed bugs and a very long residual on fabric and timber surfaces. For the most effective treatment, follow these simple steps:

Step 1 – Assess & prepare the treatment zone

Identify any voids and how to access them. This will often involve inverting furniture and moving beds or mattresses to new positions. Never compromise treatment by moving infested items from the room. Try to keep everything within the zone. Personal items that are too sensitive for treatment should be bagged and isolated.

If special access needs to be made, e.g. into wall voids or dismantling of the headboard, do this first and then set it up ready for treatment.

Step 2 - Treatment

Treat the most recessed voids first e.g. wall voids and ceiling voids with dust. Use Temprid 75 through the fine crack and crevice applicator tip of your Ausmister. Mist into all perimeter cracks and crevices, behind skirting boards, carpet edges, structural joints, bed frames, furniture construction joints, etc...

Don’t miss voids in furniture or curtain rails. The treatment uses air pressure to drive the liquid formulation into all areas where the bugs may be. If the void is particularly complicated, consider using Premise® Foam to thoroughly permeate the void. When the voids are covered, change the applicator tip to a fine fan pattern such as a T Jet 4001.

Apply a continuous residual surface film to the rear sides of any dismantled components e.g. bed head and backs of furniture. Stop the treatment and reassemble the room to its normal state.

Complete the service by applying a light residual surface film to all exposed surfaces. Turn fans or air conditioning on in order to dry the room of moisture as quickly as possible.

When completed, close and secure the door. Place a notification indicating the treatment time and the time it will be safe to re-enter.
